Pedestal Networks (acquired by UTStarcom) is developing a breakthrough broadband solution that is focused on redefining the economics of rolling out DSL services. The Pedestal Networks Universal Broadband Server (UBSTM) will eliminate essentially all DSL deployment bottlenecks, while making DSL profitable for phone companies for the first time by an order of magnitude reduction in capital (CapEx) and operating expenditures (OpEx). The UBS will make DSL available to 100% of homes and offices, regardless of geographic location, and make provisioning new DSL service simpler than provisioning Caller ID service.
