01/25/2023 | 09:07am EST Message : *Required fields New 2886-Channel TED targets lower cost, main-stream a-Si and Oxide TFT panels up to 3072×2160 resolution with two-chip MSO Parade Technologies , Ltd. (Taiwan OTC: 4966.TWO), a leading high-speed interface, video display, and touch controller IC supplier, today announced a new offering in its eDP Timing Controller (Tcon) with embedded driver (TED) product category. TC3222 provides a single-chip display driver solution as an alternative to the traditional multichip solutions (eDP Tcon + source drivers). The TC3222 provides a lower cost alternative to the TC3210 by eliminating the frame buffer required to support PSR (Panel Self Refresh). Both versions feature narrow COG package dimensions to support new generations of sleek LCD panel assemblies. TC3222 is compliant with the eDP 1.4b standard and supports Multi-SST Operation(MSO), Dynamic Refresh Rates, and more. The TC3222 is configurable to support all panel resolutions up to 2240×1440 using an 18 or 24-bit color format. Adding a second TC3222, in MSO mode, enables panel resolutions up to 3072x2160. With support for the proprietary video interface protocols offered by major CPU, GPU and SoC vendors, system implementation is straight-forward. The integrated source drivers support up to 2886 output channels with support for dual-gate and MUX2/MUX3 sub-pixel driving structures. The TC3222 is designed for Flip Chip on Glass application on both a-Si (Amorphous Silicon) and Oxide type TFT panels. It requires no external crystal or timing reference, includes a programmable gamma buffer, as well as Parade’s exclusive Smart-Backlight™ feature for additional color and power optimization. The fully programmable row and column driver timing enables the TC3222 to serve a broad range of panel types, and it provides synchronization signals that support a wide range of touch controllers. “At Parade, we are committed to the continual improvement and technical advances that provide our customers a TCON portfolio that keeps pace with their changing needs,” said Jimmy Chiu, Executive VP of Marketing at Parade Technologies. “By offering both the TC3222 and the upcoming TC3230, we are delivering on that commitment, with highly integrated TED solution for both high-end and main-stream slim TFT panels, whether in a-Si, Oxide, or LTPS, and at resolutions up to 3072x2160.” For panels requiring the support of PSR (Panel Self Refresh) and/or PSR2, as specified in the VESA eDP 1.4b standard, please refer to the TC3210 or, for resolutions above full HD, the upcoming TC3230. Availability The TC3222 is offered in a gold-bumped COG (Chip-on-Glass) physical form factor. Production Samples are available now.
