Oneflare scales for next growth cycle

Jun 23, 2021

Oneflare scales for next growth cycle Staff Writers 2021-06-23 Online service provider Oneflare is scaling up its IT infrastructure to cope with its business’s ongoing rise in demand. The company, which connects businesses to customers seeking services across multiple areas including home renovation and maintenance, weddings and events, health, auto, home removals, cleaning and gardening, recently finished a round of successful equity funding round where it sought up to $10 million from potential investors, though the amount raised was undisclosed. Oneflare has positioned itself as more than just an ‘Uber for tradies’ such as competitors HiPages and Airtasker. With a range of brands in its stable, including UrbanYou, Word of Mouth, TidyMe and  wedding.com.au, the company provides services across 300 categories and is expecting revenue of $14.5 million in the 2021 financial year, 88 per cent of which is recurring, up from 40 per cent in 2019. Moreover, the company says its website is now attracting 1.2 million visits a month and had 700,000 job postings over the past year, leading to 900,000 business quotes from about 20,000 quoting businesses. Oneflare CEO Billy Tucker says the range of services the company offers is the largest of any in the Australian marketplace. “We provide access to leading experts across over 300 categories, unlike Billy Tucker, CEO of Oneflare. those focused solely on connecting tradesmen or finding people to perform menial tasks. The sheer breadth of solutions we provide sets Oneflare apart from all others. We help more Australians get more stuff done in more ways than anyone else out there. We also stringently verify our businesses’ credentials before they post on our website.” From a technology perspective, the steadily increasing volume of traffic visiting the site has resulted in new and improved versions of the company’s original platform. The Oneflare Now service uses localisation technology, similar to the driver-finder tech used by Uber, to provide immediate access to local experts when the need is urgent. “Through Twilio’s cutting-edge API (Application Programming Interface), we have been able to connect customers in dire straits to an expert in their area, taking the headache and stress out of their hands so they can fix their problem and get on with their day,” Tucker says. Twilio specialises in helping companies engage more efficiently and effectively with their customers by embedding their high-tech communications capabilities into their digital systems. As an online marketplace, the Oneflare platform is built around matching customer needs with business supply, and Oneflare Now uses sophisticated data insights that help customers connect instantly with as many as 32 relevant service providers at once, all of whom are located in a short radius from their location, guaranteeing that a customer in need is connected quickly to the nearest expert. “Twilio’s software intelligence, including their Voice and SMS product suites, enabled us to dip into our database and match a customer in crisis immediately with a local expert. It uses a sophisticated algorithm that taps into several data touchpoints such as the business speciality, their current location, service areas, business hours and more to service the customer’s needs in real-time. “The way we use data and technology to solve customer problems makes Oneflare unique, and Oneflare Now is the first time Twillio’s highly sophisticated multi-platform messaging technology has been used to alert multiple businesses of an emergency job,” Tucker says. “So far, 25,000 customers in need have been connected to a nearby expert using Oneflare Now.” Oneflare Now, like all Oneflare services, is free for the customer. “We also emphasise genuine customer reviews, both from Oneflare itself and external platforms, to ensure the process is as transparent as possible for customers,” Tucker adds. The Oneflare Now service is currently available across all of the Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth metropolitan areas and the surrounding regional areas. In contrast, all Oneflare.com.au services are available nationwide.
