Spinner was valued at $320 million and the total acquisition value was $400 million indicating Nullsoft's price was $80 million. Prior to its acquisition, the company was the subject of a $20 million lawsuit filed in March 1999 by PlayMedia, which develops digital content distribution and management software and hardware including the AMP MP3 playback engine. Time Stamp: March 19, 2022 1:03 AM Winamp is a media player established by Justin Frankel and Dmitry Boldyrev by their company Nullsoft. In recent news, Winamp, a third-party media player, stole the limelight by announcing an NFT. Tied to the original 1997 skin, Winamp will sell an NFT on the popular OpenSea website. This auction will continue for 7 days, i.e., May 16 to May 22. A separate sale of 1997 total NFTs based on 20 artworks developed from the original skin will be held following the initial slot. The third-party media player has even set up a website for the NFT endeavor, intending to obtain the NFTs through a process that will allow musicians to submit Winamp-based songs between now and April 15th. The chosen artists will receive 20% of the proceeds from each NFT image sale. “Winamp is here to support the artist community which is driving the development of the new Winamp product,” Alexandre Saboundjian stated in a press release. “Supporting music and musicians is also why the work of the Winamp Foundation is very important.” According to rumors, the artworks would be sold for 0.08 ETH. Artists will receive a 10% royalty on the secondary sale, with the seller determining their price. According to reports, the money from the sale would most likely go to the Winamp Foundation, which has agreed to give to charity projects that assist music and performers. According to Thierry Ascarez, Winamp’s head of business development, who explained the procedure to The Verge, individuals that purchase the NFTs would receive a ‘blockchain token linked to an image of either the original 1997 skin or one of its derivatives.’
