Jayapura, Papua (ANTARA) - Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Papua have derived benefit from the 20th National Games (PON) since the national multi-sporting event started on October 2 in the province. "I am very grateful for the Papua PON event. As a Papuan and MSMEs business owner, I feel the positive impact of this event," Simon Tabuni, one of the MSME owners in Papua, noted on Tuesday. MSMEs and entrepreneurs in Papua are given the opportunity to display their products at the venue as promotion tools and to attract buyers ranging from athletes to officials and spectators. The euphoria around the Papua PON was not only felt at the opening ceremony, attended by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at the Lukas Enembe Stadium on October 2, but was also enthusiastically welcomed by the community residing in the eastern province of Indonesia. This national event brought a positive impact on the local community's economy and the local industrial sector, including the creative economy, culture, tourism, and agriculture sectors for the food supply. For instance, Papuan women, who sell Papua traditional bag called 'Noken' at the venues, were glad that their products were purchased by athletes, officials, and spectators. In fact, on the first day of having arrived in Jayapura, President Jokowi had bought a Noken bag directly from a Papuan woman, who displayed it on the side of the road while interacting with local residents. Apart from the MSMEs sector, the cultural and tourism sectors were also benefited from this national event. Various dance and music performances from Papua at the opening ceremony, broadcasted live throughout Indonesia, had successfully introduced Papuan culture to all across Indonesia. "As a young Papuan, I am grateful for President Jokowi's seventh visit to Papua and his message on the young generation's contribution for Papua's development," Tabuni added.

Jayapura (ANTARA) - Sebanyak 15 perwakilan mama-mama penjual noken atau tas rajutan di Pasar Sentral Hamadi, Kelurahan Hamadi, Distrik Jayapura Selatan, Kota Jayapura, Papua, Jumat siang, menerima sembako dari Subit II Ekonomi Direktorat Intelkam Polda Papua. Penyerahan bantuan sembako itu diberikan oleh Kasubdit II Ekonomi Direktorat Intelkam Polda Papua Kompol Laurens T Tukan didampingi sejumlah personel dan staf dari UPTD Pasar Sentral Hamadi. "Hari ini kami berikan bantuan sembako kepada para pelaku usaha kecil, yakni mama-mama pembuat dan penjual noken di Pasar Sentral Hamadi dan sekitarnya sebagai bentuk kepedulian Polda Papua di tengah pandemi COVID-19 sekaligus bentuk  pembinaan kepada mama-mama pembuat noken," katanya. Dia menyebutkan sembako yang diberikan kepada mama-mama Papua pembuat noken itu, di antaranya beras 10 kg, mie instan satu karton, gula pasir, daun teh dan minyak goreng dengan harapan bisa membantu ekonomi keluarga di tengah pandemi corona. "Pada kesempatan ini, kami juga mengimbau kepada mereka agar tidak membuat motif atau corak noken yang bertentangan dengan aturan, termasuk ajak mereka bantu mendukung kamtibmas yang aman dan nyaman," katanya. Selain memberikan bantuan sembako, kata mantan Kasat Intel Polresta Jayapura Kota itu, mama-mama pembuat noken juga diajak untuk mengikuti anjuran pemerintah terkait protokol kesehatan guna menyambut kebijakan normal baru yang telah digaungkan oleh pemerintah. "Kami juga sampaikan agar mama-mama penjual noken tidak lupa untuk terapkan protokol kesehatan, cuci tangan usai beraktivitas, pakai masker, jaga jarak, dan saat berjualan tidak berkerumun," katanya. Sebagai bentuk perhatian, Kompol Laurens yang pernah bertugas di Polres Paniai itu memesan 30 noken motif bendera Merah Putih dengan tulisan Aku Cinta Papua kepada mama-mama pembuat noken. "Kami juga pesan kepada mereka untuk membuat noken 30 buah dengan motif merah putih bertuliskan Aku Cinta Papua. Hal ini sebagai bentuk kepedulian kami dalam melestarikan noken dan mendukung ekonomi keluarga mereka yang hanya bergantung dari merajut noken," kata Kompol Laurens. Sementara itu, Mama Bertha Tekege salah satu dari 15 perwakilan mama-mama pembuat noken yang menerima bantuan sembako itu menyampaikan terima kasih kepada Polda Papua dalam hal ini Direktorat Intelkam. "Terima kasih kepada bapak-bapak dari Polda Papua yang sudah datang melihat dan membantu kami, ini yang pertama kali kami terima sembako, semoga Tuhan memberkati bapak-bapak dalam pekerjaan," kata Bertha Tekege. Sedangkan, Mama Ana Mote yang menjadi koordinator mereka mengaku perhatian dari Polda Papua sangat luar biasa, karena bisa memesan 30 noken untuk dibuat oleh mama-mama. "Terima kasih kepada Pak Laurens Tukan dan personelnya yang sudah perhatikan kami, mama-mama penjual noken. Kami sudah diberikan sembako berupa beras dan lainnya. Kami juga diberikan tugas untuk membuat 30 noken sebagai bentuk kepedulian kepada kami di tengah pandemi corona," katanya.
