HeadSpin Announces Acquisition of NimbleDroid

Mar 7, 2019

On the Heels of a $20M Venture Capital Raise, Company Wastes No Time Expanding the HeadSpin Platform -- the New Standard for Mobile Application Performance, UX Monitoring and Testing News provided by Share this article PALO ALTO, Calif., March 7, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Mobile performance platform leader HeadSpin today announced the acquisition of application performance testing company NimbleDroid. Effective immediately, HeadSpin will integrate the NimbleDroid functional performance testing tools into its core platform and all employees will join HeadSpin including NimbleDroid co-founder and CEO Junfeng Yang, who has been named Chief Scientist of HeadSpin, and co-founder and CTO, Younghoon Jeon who has been named as a HeadSpin Fellow. Other terms of the deal were not disclosed. HeadSpin and NimbleDroid together provide mobile developers with the industry's most comprehensive platform for mobile app and site testing, performance management and user experience monitoring. Increasingly, developers are under unprecedented pressure to deliver high-quality versions of their mobile apps every few weeks. Couple this with the growing complexities of user environments, device fragmentation and different network characteristics, and it's clear that developers need a new paradigm to help them do their jobs faster and better. "NimbleDroid provides developers with exactly what has been missing from HeadSpin. Until now, we haven't had the ability to examine performance from the client-side. Similarly, NimbleDroid customers will now be able to look at how client-cloud communication affects app performance. Taken together, HeadSpin and NimbleDroid's technologies tell a complete and very compelling story of app performance," said Manish Lachwani, CEO and Co-Founder of HeadSpin. "HeadSpin is fueled by the same passion and vision as NimbleDroid. The company wants to help teams and businesses build better apps that provide pleasant user experiences and increase business KPIs. Like NimbleDroid, HeadSpin's team is also very technically minded. Both of HeadSpin's co-founders, Manish and Brien, come from a very technical background and fully understand the pains that developers experience when working in a mobile environment. We believe this combination is rare and will help us make a larger impact on mobile developers," said Junfeng Yang, formerly CEO and Co-Founder of NimbleDroid, now Chief Scientist of HeadSpin. The HeadSpin platform leverages a global infrastructure of more than 22,000 SIM-enabled devices in 150 locations and proprietary AI-driven software to deliver a world class mobile testing, performance management and user experience monitoring solution. Recently, HeadSpin announced $20 million in Series B funding from notable investors including ICONIQ and Battery Ventures. Among HeadSpin's enterprise customers are  mobile app providers Tinder and DocuSign, several device OEMs including Dell, leading operating systems teams, telco carriers including Telstra and VZ, and content delivery network firms such as Akamai. "Our company is experiencing incredible growth, because the number of companies that rely on mobile apps to engage their customers is exploding, and the complexity of those apps exceed the skill sets of all but the most well resourced companies. HeadSpin offers enterprise development teams with a solution that removes a lot of the monitoring and testing complexity, so teams can stay focused on providing an ideal user experience, and generating revenue," said Manish Lachwani, CEO and Co-Founder of HeadSpin. About HeadSpin HeadSpin is the complete solution for all your mobile performance and user experience needs.
