Kairos Ventures Invests in nFugue

Aug 2, 2018

Kairos Ventures Invests in nFugue We are delighted to announce that nFugue is the latest company to join the Kairos portfolio . Founded in 2018 nFugue is nanostructures company that is leading in the precision architecting of materials at the nano-scale. nFugue is building on the groundbreaking work developed at Caltech to open a new level of nano-architected structures that can be used for a wide variety of applications, from tiny medical implants to ultra-lightweight impact-resistant fabrics or textiles to ultra-lightweight aircraft components. The revolutionary process will reduce the size of the 3D printed structures by 5x while enabling a whole new set of unprecedented combinations of properties, for example, ultra-lightweight; thermally insulating; strong, stiff, and low-density; and impact-absorbing. “nFugue is excited to be partnering with Kairos Ventures for this phase of the research. The excitement goes beyond the funding; the in-depth support and guidance Kairos is providing for the company and this stage of the development is a critical factor for success.” – Travis Blake, President of nFugue nFugue’s vision is to enable the precise architecting of structures at the nanoscale that will open up a whole new era of devices and platforms that can now take advantage of the architected designs to support the continued component miniaturization. With the funding provided by Kairos, nFugue will prototype a novel manufacturing method that was originally envisioned by the Kairos Founder and Managing Partner, Jim Demetriades, during a visit to the Caltech laboratories. By applying a new method for fabrication, the nanostructures can now be built at a size and speed that would be compatible with large-scale use. As part of the investment, Travis Blake will be joining nFugue as the President. “nFugue is excited to be partnering with Kairos Ventures for this phase of the research.,” said Dr. Travis Blake, President of nFugue. “The excitement goes beyond the funding; the in-depth support and guidance Kairos is providing for the company and this stage of the development is a critical factor for success” We are thrilled about our investment in nFugue and welcome them to the extended Kairos Ventures family!
