Nexor: New defence wins underline company strengths

Sep 18, 2023

UKHotViews Kate and I had the pleasure to meet up with a range of tech suppliers – many of them TechMarketView clients – at DSEI last week. One of those was Nexor, which focuses on secure information exchange and whose growth prospects I recently wrote about in *UKHotViewsExtra* Nexor invests for growth | TechMarketView . Meeting up with Chairman, Steve Kingan, MD, Tim Thompson, and Head of Portfolio, Marketing, and Partners, Danny Wootton, it was great to hear of the company’s continued success in the form of a couple of new significant contract wins. This month, it has announced that it has been contracted to lead a consortium, including data and geospatial technology and services provider, Envitia (see Maven backs Envitia MBO | TechMarketView ) and 2iC, an early TechMarketView Little British Battler, focused on digital interoperability in the battlespace (see 2iC: more use cases for digital interoperability solution | TechMarketView ), to demonstrate, with the MOD’s Futures Lab MDIS project, the technical feasibility of data sharing across multiple domains (multi domain integration). Nexor’s contribution to MDIS will enable edge-based processing to share data across the battlefield, “resulting in reduced communication needs, faster reaction times and greater autonomy”. Notably, the MDIS approach eliminates the need for a single systems integrator. The other notable win is as a Security Partner in a consortium, led by long-term partner Roke, for the Army’s Project ZODIAC. ZODIAC is “the backbone of the Army’s Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition, and Reconnaissance (ISTAR) programme”, which aims to deliver a system of sensors, applications, and underpinning systems architecture that can collect and integrate all available sources of information throughout the Land environment. Nexor’s role is to manage Information Assurance practices and processes across the project with an agile approach to ensure the system is ‘Secure by Design’. Nexor has worked on the project, alongside Roke and its partners, for the last two years. These contracts draw on Nexor’s years of experience and strengths in secure messaging and cybersecurity, including its expertise in secure information exchange and cross-domain, as well as its tried and tested Secure by Design methodology. Moreover, they sit at the heart of strategically important defence programmes that will further underline Nexor’s ability to support customers as they seek to leverage the value of shared data across multiple domains and multiple organisations with differing security requirements.
