‘Work is broken’: Limeade acquires Sitrion as company aims to boost employee engagement

Sep 19, 2018

Limeade continues to march forward on its mission to improve employee engagement at work. The Bellevue, Wash.-based company today announced the acquisition of Sitrion , a Denver-based maker of an employee communications app called ONE. Limeade, which sells software to help organizations nurture the well-being of employees and prevent burnout, will use Sitrion’s technology to bolster its platform. The ONE app allows companies to contact employees and facilitates communication between employees themselves. Henry Albrecht , who founded Limeade in 2006, said the acquisition will “amplify how we drive real employee engagement on a global scale.” “Work is broken,” Albrecht told GeekWire. “Employees are disengaged, isolated and exhausted and don’t feel a sense of purpose or support from their company. HR tools create siloed, demoralizing experiences and remote populations aren’t seeing communications, much less participating.” Limeade’s products. (Photo via Limeade) Albrecht said the Sitrion ONE app will continue working as a standalone product for existing customers. “In the meantime our team is thoughtfully exploring the future of both brands,” he said. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. This is the second acquisition for Limeade, which will add 23 employees from Sitrion and grow its workforce to more than 250 people. Total funding to date for Limeade is $34 million. Its customers include Kohl’s; Puget Sound Energy; Panasonic; and others. Sitrion had raised more than $45 million, according to Crunchbase . Founded in 2004, the company was previously known as NewsGator.
