Free horse advice this weekend for Henry The Second, The Big Breakaway and more from Ed Quigley

Mar 10, 2023

164 Famed horse racing tipster and journalist Ed Quigley, aka ‘Longshot Ted’, offers his best bets for Saturday’s TV action and picks out some of the other horses that made him sit up and take notice of what should be be a sports weekend crunch. Saturday tips: Fine Casting, 2.25 Sandown, e/w – Bet UK Casa No Mento, 3.00 Sandown, win – Bet UK Lake Constance, 3.35 Sandown, win – BetVictor Mucho Mas, 4.10 Sandown, east/west – William Hill i will start with HENRY THE TWO (1.50). He boasts of having won the C&D form, and the proving ground should be no problem for him. Paul Nicholls’ Ditcheat yard absolutely flies, and this strapping individual makes plenty of appeal. He will have the burden of the maximum weight, but this future hunter is a real stamp of a horse capable of coping with the conditions. Winner of the Year 2 Winter Novice Hurdle at this location, an in-depth endurance review will be right up his alley as he returns to the stage in his best performance yet. Harry Cobden takes over as the 6-year-old for coach who is aiming to win for the third time in four years. At around 9/1, it seems more than a fair price in my opinion and gets the vote every way. Bet on Henry II at bet365 Always a fascinating sight, it will be time for the Imperial Cup at 2:25, and there are plenty of angles in both directions here with underfoot conditions bringing horses into the mix that may not have the recent shape of the belt, but can do the job in the mud. In my opinion, it can be risky to dwell too much on weights and measures, and the ability to handle the terrain will be the salient factor here. Ben Pauling is having a terrific season, and FINE MOLDING must be a major player with its proven ability to handle underfoot testing. Two of his four career wins have come on ground described as heavy, and he’s gained form much further back, which will clearly be of great benefit here. He’s not entirely out of pace either, so it wouldn’t be a shock if he ran well, stalling on the trip with everything in his favor. Luca Morgan takes over as the 7-year-old who has strong claims both ways. Bet on Fine Casting at Spreadex Rewind the clock 12 months ago, and Luccia was rushing to Esher’s site, and it will be fascinating to see if we have a mare of this caliber lined up in the Listed Mares Bumper (3.00). It may have been just a Hereford bumper she won last time out, but the Nigel Twiston-Davies have practiced CASA NO MENTO put in an impressive performance scooting a dozen lengths on soft ground. That bodes well for this mission, and it seems more than capable of having the potential to make an impact on this level. Sam Twiston-Davies takes his father’s place in this exciting prospect. Bet on Casa No Mento at BetVictor We had a shock in Exeter last month, like hotpot LAKE CONSTANCE swelled his lines as the go-to favorite, but he has a good chance of finding his way back to victory here (3.35). Dan Skelton’s charge didn’t jump very well on much faster-than-ideal ground at the West Country venue last time out in a disappointing run. However, this unexposed guy will be much happier with the conditions underfoot here and if he can get back to the same form that saw him beat Hudson De Grugy by 20 lengths at Kempton late last year. Harry Skelton takes over as this talented individual who has the ammunition in the locker to return to victory here. I discussed the good form of Ben Pauling’s side who are having their best season numerically since the Cotswold Handler took up their license, and they are represented by MUCHO MAS (4.10). This is an unexposed stayer that rode through the mud to win at Lingfield in December and has been refreshed since. He really thrived on stepping up his journey on this occasion, and a 5 pound weight increase seems perfectly fair. Luca Morgan is in the saddle and the duo can get involved commercially at the end of the procedure on land that promises to be suitable. Bet on Mucho Mas at 888sport The Cheltenham Festival looms on the horizon, and with ground conditions turning softer than expected, it has really thrown the cat among the pigeons, with bettors and connections scratching their heads at the last minute. Cutting into the ground won’t be a problem for the trained Joe Tizzard THE GREAT ESCAPE. He’s been hitting the crossbar lately but has provided stamina and likes to cut into the ground, so this frenetic run could play to his strengths. He has smart form at Cheltenham, and it wouldn’t be a shock if he hit the frame at a high price.
