Just after 6pm on Thursday, the now trio, who won The X Factor in 2011, put out a video on their social media channels featuring highlights from their illustrious decade in the music industry. Breaking the news of their plans to spend some time away from the group, Little Mix released a joint statement which read: "We wanted to let you all know that after the Confetti tour in April/May next year we are going to be taking a break from Little Mix." They continued: "We are not splitting up - Little Mix are here to stay." "We have plans for more music, tours and performances in the future. We’ve made so many incredible memories with you all, and we can’t wait to make so many more." The post ended: "We’re sisters and we’ll always have each other and you, the fans, in our lives. Little Mix is forever See you on tour! Jade, Leigh-Anne and Perrie." The big Little Mix news was seized on by fans and press alike, with some reports claiming that the group would be splitting. Little MIx on The X Factor Shutting them down, Simon Jones, the group's PR rep tweeted one of the split headlines and wrote: "The band’s statement literally says they are not breaking up. What a ridiculous tweet." Simon's tweet had a huge reaction, with one fan commenting: "tell ‘em!!! we don’t need that negative energy, we believe our queens!!" and another replying: "Apparently to some people taking a break and breaking up are the same thing. They’ve said multiple times they aren’t breaking up. People need to stop reaching." However, others likened Little Mix's announcement to One Direction's a few years ago and they have yet to get back together. One fan reacted: "let's be honest, they're going to start solo and a lot of things will happen. It won't make sense in the future for them to be again working as a girl group. Maybe ten years from now in celebration? I don't believe they will back together in less than 10 years."
