The GBSA ( Gyeonggi Business & Science Accelerator , Director Kang Sung-cheon) held an online event, ‘Pangyo x Saudi Arabia: Bridging Innovation,’ on November 23rd (Thursday) at the Pangyo Enterprise Support Hub to support the entry of Pangyo startups into the Saudi Arabian market. The event, part of the GBSA’s startup global expansion support program, featured participation from the Cluster Development Team of the GBSA, representatives from beSUCESS led by Jung Hyun-wook, Iskander Haouam from Abu Dhabi SME Hub, Anas Agag from Quality Code SA, Amal El Habziz from The Synergy Network, and Abdulmajeed Alanazi from the Ministry of Investment Saudi Arabia (MISA). Representatives from innovative startups in Pangyo Techno Valley, including Hong Yoo-jung , CEO of this is engineering , a drone platform with autonomous capabilities and a next-generation mobility development company, and Lee Kyuhun , Global Business General Manager of VEStellaLAB , developer of an AI-based smart parking navigation system, as well as Lee Kwang-ho , director of Mirrorroid , which develops AI-based smart mirrors, introduced their companies and services. Following the presentations, Jung Hyun-wook, CEO of beSUCESS, discussed the collaboration and mutual direction between Pangyo Techno Valley and Saudi Arabia. Abdulmajeed Alanazi from the Ministry of Investment Saudi Arabia conveyed that both the Korean and Saudi Arabian governments are not only operating programs to build diverse cooperative ecosystems but are also collaborating with the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. He proposed entry strategies through the Saudi Riyadh GBC (Global Business Center), established this year, to strengthen cooperation in the Korean-Saudi startup sector. Amal El Habziz, CEO of The Synergy Network, a company providing specialized marketing services for the Saudi and Middle Eastern markets and supporting market entry, recommended Pangyo startups to participate in various programs and build networks for successful entry into the Saudi market. She particularly recommended that this is engineering, a Pangyo startup, participate in deep tech and Urban Air Mobility (UAM) programs operated by ‘TAQADAM,’ a Saudi accelerator. Additionally, she suggested that Mirrorroid, a startup developing AI smart mirrors, should approach the Saudi Arabian market tailored to the interests in AI healthcare . Lee Kwang-ho, director of Mirrorroid , who participated in the event, expressed, “Through this event, I was able to introduce Mirrorroid’s technology and services to local VCs, helping to formulate strategies for entering the Saudi and Middle Eastern markets. I hope this event will contribute to the successful entry of Mirrorroid into the Saudi and Middle Eastern markets.” Meanwhile, the GBSA provides support for the overseas promotion of startups in Pangyo Techno Valley, including startup coverage, interviews, writing and distribution of articles in Korean and English, and video content production. In addition, the center operates various programs for the global expansion of Pangyo startups through online meetings with venture capitalists, media, and startup ecosystem experts in Silicon Valley , Singapore , Japan , and Saudi Arabia.
