Mergers & Acquisitions | 14 January 2015 Professional Services Company Towers Watson Acquires Metis Insurance by Vivek Singh @vivek US based professional services company, Towers Watson has acquired a controlling stake in employee benefits brokerage firm, Metis Insurance. The financial details of the deal remain undisclosed. Post the deal, Metis Insurance would be renamed as Towers Watson Insurance Brokers India Private Limited which will be led by Sudesh Shetty, the founder of Metis Insurance. The services offered by Towers Watson Insurance Brokers India would include the design, implementation, financing and on-going management of health, disability and other insured benefits. Metis is an IRDA licenced Direct Insurance Broker founded in 2003. Towers Watson offers consulting, technology and solutions in the areas of benefits, talent management, rewards, and risk and capital management through 1500 associates globally. Recently, British insurance major Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group (JLT) picked up a 26% stake in Sunidhi Group’s insurance and reinsurance broking subsidiary, Independent Insurance Brokers for an undisclosed amount. ChrysCapital Offloads Stake In ING Vysya Bank ChrysCapital has offloaded a majority of its holding in ING Vysya Bankn for over R647 Cr selling 4.75 million shares at a unit price of R970. ChrysCap was the single largest shareholder in the bank, post the sale the stake gets trimmed to 0.8% from 4.5%.
