No Comments Anyone who has ever been to a family game night also knows “Mensch ärgere dich nicht” and certainly associates a love-hate relationship with this parlor game like the rest of the population. Who does not know the frustration when you are thrown out just before entering your own house. But that is exactly the crux of the matter, the goal of the game hidden in the name, apart from bringing all four characters home: In the end, it is not decisive who wins, but who does not let the trials and tribulations of chance upset him has to offer. The classic game was invented in Munich at the beginning of the 20th century. The founding myth says that in the winter months of 1907, Josef Friedrich Schmidt was looking for something to entertain his children with in the evenings. Without further ado, he drew a playing field on a piece of cardboard. The German entrepreneur got his inspiration from the Indian game “Pachisi” or the English “Ludo”, but the German version is far less complicated and can therefore be played easily by younger children. Launched in 1910, the game quickly became a box-office hit. To date, over 90 million copies have been sold. 2023-05-05 11:07:11 1683312009
