MEDAC successfully assists 220,248 affected entrepreneurs within AKM 100-day target 25/11/2021 12:26 AM KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 24  -- The Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (MEDAC) has successfully assisted a total of 220,248 entrepreneurs affected by the COVID-19 pandemic under the 100-day Aspirasi Keluarga Malaysia (Malaysian Family Aspirations) programme or AKM target. Its minister, Tan Sri Noh Omar said the total exceeded their initial target of 188,345 entrepreneurs. He said the assistance, involving a total of RM7.172 billion, was in the form of loans, moratoriums and grants to the affected entrepreneurs. “Apart from that, as of today, we also managed to assist 3,667 new entrepreneurs, who were previously employed but lost their jobs, youths and graduates compared to the 2,975 that was targeted. “Others who benefited included a total of 8,594 individuals from micro, small and medium industries, who received assistance through digitalisation-based initiatives and the adaptation of technology solution, compared to the 8,650 individuals targeted,” he said. He said this on Bernama TV's Ruang Bicara programme 'Malaysian Family Aspirations: Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry’ tonight. According to Noh, the achievement was a Key Performance Indicator (KPI) and it was completed within 100 days after his appointment as minister in September. Noh said he also appointed a monitoring committee in each of the 11 agencies under the ministry to ensure the allocation reached its intended recipients. Reports by those committees would be presented to him every week, he added. "I have also ordered every ministry agency to simplify the procedures and bureaucratic conditions for every aid application as their current situation with the pandemic is different from how they were before,” he said. -- BERNAMA
