'Crushed' family and friends call for answers into Teesside-born dad's death in Magaluf Tobias White-Sansom, 35, died after he was allegedly knelt on by police officers after an incident in Magaluf Group 28 Invalid emailSomething went wrong, please try again later. Sign Up Group 28 The family and friends of a dad who grew up on Teesside and died whilst on holiday have held a vigil and are calling for answers into his death. Tobias White Sansom, died on July 31 following an alleged incident near a nightclub in Majorca. Tobias, who grew up in Ingleby Barwick and Yarm , was placed in an induced coma on July 26 after he was allegedly knelt on by police officers and beaten up by bouncers whilst in Magaluf. Along with his brother Maximillian White and their families, Tobias was on holiday in Majorca with family. According to Sky News, Spanish Police have confirmed judicial authorities are investigating the sequence of events that led to Mr White's death but could not comment further about the incident, as reported by Nottinghamshire Live. On Saturday August 20, a vigil was held in the Old Market Square area of Tobias' former home Nottingham, where friends and family called for action and answers into his death. A court has now given his family permission to carry out their own autopsy, the Daily Mirror reports . Tobias' cousin Ricardo Capone, speaking at the vigil event where a number of musicians were in attendance and a crowd of more than 100 people gathered, said: "We're all just trying to get answers. They're still refusing to release his body. It's been really painful since his death, I lived with him for 11 years in total, we brought our children up in the same house together. "The last message he sent to me was him telling me that he missed my son. I don't think I've had time to grieve yet, I've taken time off my job and it has been intense setting up this event, but we want justice for Toby. The aim is to raise awareness of it all. That will get the Government to do something." Friends of Tobias said they had been "crushed" by his death. Pete Godfrey, 34, met Tobias whilst they were both at college together as teenagers. He said: “I got a call from Max (Toby’s brother) saying that he was in a coma, I thought he would be okay because he was a strong guy. “I was told I needed to ring him and then I knew it was bad so I got a flight to see Toby, it was surreal because he was warm but he was not there. Once the machine got turned off it just crushed me, that’s when all the questions started about how it happened. "He was so kind and was an absolute gent. It’s just not right, someone needs to take accountability.” Read More Related Articles Tobias' brother Maximillian, who is a millionaire after making his fortune in medicinal cannabis, claimed his brother had gone back inside a VIP area at the Boomerang nightclub in Magaluf to retrieve his T-shirt, and was told his belongings had been put away. While waiting, he went to get another drink at the bar with his girlfriend before security allegedly 'grabbed him from behind.' Maximillian claims Tobias was restrained by bouncers before police arrived at the scene, who allegedly threw him on the floor and eight officers reportedly knelt on his neck. Apparently whilst Tobias pleaded for his life, he went into cardiac arrest whilst police attempted to disperse a large crowd that had gathered as the incident unfolded. Maximillian paid tribute to him following his death, saying he was a 'well loved' dad to four year old Jasmine and 11 month old Poppy. At Saturday's vigil, Jamie Patterson, 46, who used to live with Toby, said: “I have known him since he was 20 years old. He was just a young cheeky chap and he was all about his kids. He was not doing anything, this is all about getting answers. There hasn’t been anything yet.” His niece Frankie Thomson, 30, added: “He was such a super family man, I always saw him as a protector when I was young. I have always looked up to him. "He would never have expected what happened to him. There was no reason for that to happen” READ NEXT:
