Lumate is latest startup to leave T-REx

Feb 4, 2014

Email  |  Twitter  |  Facebook Lumate, the St. Louis-based startup that uses big data to improve the mobile ads experience for companies and consumers, is among the latest companies to graduate from the Downtown T-REx co-working space and move into its own space. The company signed a three-year lease to move into the third floor of the Cosmopolitan Building, 1112 Olive St. Terms of the deal were not made public. The Cosmopolitan is located just a few blocks west of T-REx’s current home at 611 Olive St. Lumate joins other T-REx startups such as Pixel Press and FoodEssentials, which have made similar moves early in 2014. Lumate Chief Creative Officer Jonathan Leek said the company, now with nearly 20 employees, had simply outgrown its space in T-REx. “We had grown to the point where we were no longer an incubator company and needed the extra space,” he said. T-REx Community Manager Rosa Mayer said the moves are a positive sign that T-REx startups are growing so that they need to move into bigger office spaces. “When a company is too big to share space at T-REx, we want them to be in walking distance radius so we build a strong neighborhood downtown,” she said. In October, Lumate raised $450,000 to help open a Rolla office at the Missouri University of Science and Technology . That investment included funding from the Missouri Technology Corporation’s (MTC) TechLaunch program and a 7(a) loan from First Community National Bank. In addition to the $450,000 it raised in capital, Lumate has also received $50,000 from both the Capital Innovators and Arch Grants accelerator programs. In 2012, Lumate, formerly IDC, posted $100,000 in revenue on mobile ads. Revenue figures for 2013 were not yet available.
