Chicago chocolatier to buy Long Grove Confectionery Arway Confections to keep Long Grove's name and staff June 13, 2013|By Samantha Bomkamp | Tribune reporter A sampling of Long Grove Confectionery goodies. Chicago’s Arway Confections said Thursday it has inked a deal to buy Buffalo Grove’s Long Grove Confectionery Co. Arway Confections, a 63-year-old family owned business located on Chicago’s north side, plans to keep Long Grove’s name and staff. “We are very excited about this acquisition, the tremendous opportunities and the natural synergies there are by combining the operations of these two great storied Chicago-area companies,” Arway said in a statement. The combined company will use both the existing 75,000-square-foot Arway manufacturing plant on N. Kimball Ave. and a new 85,000-square-foot Long Grove facility in Buffalo Grove. Long Grove’s retail store and factory store will also remain open. Craig Leva, Arway’s president and owner who has been with the company since 1991, will continue as president of Arway following completion of the transaction. MORE:
