3M invests in Chile's Lixivia Feb 3, 2014, 7:07am CST //= $authorImg ?> Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal Share Save Article 3M Co . has taken a stake in Lixivia, a Chilean firm with whom 3M has been collaborating to improve the output from copper mining. 3M made the announcement of the deal late Friday ; terms weren't disclosed. Lixivia has developed a technology that uses ferric nitrate in the brew of chemicals that is used to recover copper sulfurates. Maplewood-based 3M (NYSE: MMM) says it will begin testing the process this year, with possible market launch at copper-mining sites around the world by 2015.
