Designed for ages 7-12 and available on iPhone and iPad, Monster Math gives kids a game-based way to practice math skills. You can select specific skills for a student to practice (like “Subtract Within 5”) and track his or her progress, and can upgrade to a premium version within the app for $2.99. Freemium! Recognition of good behavior can motivate students--and rewards don’t hurt, either. With the LiveSchool behavior rewards program, you can give a student points for good behavior and print out a “weekly paycheck” that he or she can redeem for prizes. You can also share points and comments with other teachers to learn how students behave in different classes. Available on tablet, smartphone, PC and Smartboard, LiveSchool is free for up to five teachers, with pricing plans for schools. Freemium! Videos can help students understand complex concepts like credit cards and zombies . Common Craft hopes to help with its embeddable Explainer Videos and with Cutouts (images you can insert into your own presentations and handouts). Videos are free to watch yourself, but to use them in your classroom, pricing plans start at $49/year.
