Sony veteran Jason Clodfelter named TV chief at Legendary Entertainment

Aug 3, 2023

Sony veteran Jason Clodfelter named TV chief at Legendary Entertainment Jason Clodfelter Sony Pictures Television (SPT) Studios co-president Jason Clodfelter has exited the company after 17 years to become president of television at Legendary Entertainment. Clodfelter will be responsible for developing new scripted and limited series at Legendary, which is behind shows such as Carnival Row for Prime Video and Drops Of God for Apple TV+. His new position fills the gap left by former Legendary Television president Chris Albrecht, who left the company last year and yesterday unveiled his new firm Rubicon Global Media. Clodfelter will work closely alongside Mary Parent, vice-chairman of worldwide production at the company’s film division, Legendary Pictures. The veteran SPT Studios exec has been at the company for more than 17 years, and was promoted into his current role in 2017 , in which he has been responsible for US drama and comedy development, US scripted and current programming, global programming and development, talent and casting, TriStar Television, marketing and research. During his time as co-president, SPT Studios has produced series including The Boys for Prime Video, Twisted Metal for Peacock, The Night Agent for Netflix, For All Mankind for Apple TV+ and Outlander for Starz. Prior to his promotion, he served as EVP of US drama development and programming, and was involved in the development and production of titles such as Breaking Bad, Damages, Justified, and Masters Of Sex. Clodfelter exits on 11 August, at which point his remit will be shared by SPT president Katherine Pope and other members of the leadership team. In a memo to staff, Pope wrote: “Jason’s move marks a change for our senior leadership team, but we fully support his decision and wish him success as he embarks on this exciting new chapter in his career. “Our colleagues in the motion picture group have a great partnership with Legendary to market and distribute their films, and we are glad that Jason will remain connected to SPE through this relationship, as well as through his connection to all of us.” Legendary CEO Josh Grode, meanwhile, said: We are pleased to welcome Jason to the Legendary team, where he will be a tremendous asset as we continue to grow our television business with compelling content that resonates with our audiences worldwide. “His creative instincts, understanding of IP and ability to work with the creative community are key strengths that he brings to our television department and complements Carmi Zlotnik and our other senior executives.”
