About Kestrel Materials
Kestrel Materials is developing textiles that change shape, increasing their thickness and insulation in response to the cold. Its goal is to make apparel with superior thermal comfort, both indoors and outside. Common fibers already in use in the apparel industry--nylon, polyester, and polyolefin--are used to make these adaptive materials, and established textiles manufacturing techniques are used in production. It achieves this by pairing two materials with different thermal expansion characteristics.
