Kalamazoo accelerates Pilbara lithium hunt

The project-wide sampling blitz comprising a minimum of about 4,600 samples comes after the company returned encouraging results from portable X-ray fluorescence analysis of historical soil sample pulps collected from DOM’s Hill. The geochemical soil surveying across the 122-square-kilometre DOM’s Hill project area, to be carried out on a 200-metre by 100m grid pattern, is primarily focused on discovering pegmatite-hosted lithium-caesium-tantalum or “LCT” mineralisation. Kalamazoo says the earlier than originally planned commencement of the soil sampling program is part of its drive to accelerate lithium exploration and fast-track high-priority prospects to drill-ready status. The company plans to use portable X-ray fluorescence and laboratory assay analyses, which will be evaluated over the summer months. Newly acquired project-wide high-resolution satellite imagery has further identified sparsely outcropping pegmatites. DOM’s Hill occurs in a geological setting containing host rocks that the company describes as strongly analogous to the settings of the nearby world-class Pilgangoora and Wodgina pegmatite-hosted lithium orebodies. The project area has long been considered prospective for gold and base metals and exploration in the past has been targeted at those metals. Despite its proximity to two of the world’s largest hard-rock lithium mines – Pilbara Minerals’ Pilgangoora and Minerals Resources’ Wodgina operations – intriguingly, DOM’s Hill has not seen any previous exploration for lithium. According to Kalamazoo, this may be partly explained by some of the project area being overlain by a thin veneer of younger sedimentary cover. The fertile Archaean granite-greenstone contact zone that DOM’s Hill straddles and also shares with nearby Pilgangoora and Wodgina has the company eager to advance the project. Our previous exploration on these projects has been primarily focused on gold. To now be presented with the opportunity to investigate the project’s exciting lithium potential in one of the world’s major lithium provinces is a fantastic free kick for us. Kalamazoo Resources Non-Executive Director Paul Adams DOM’s Hill covers a strike length of about 25km of the Archaean granite-greenstone contact zone, otherwise known as the “Goldilocks Zone”. The granite-greenstone contact zone has an estimated width of between 1km and 10km on Kalamazoo’s ground and the company says it is highly prospective for pegmatite-hosted lithium mineralisation. Junior lithium exploration companies have become the latest market darlings on the ASX … and Kalamazoo has arrived at the ball. Is your ASX-listed company doing something interesting? Contact:
