Do České republiky putují další zahraniční peníze ve formě rizikového kapitálu. Pražská softwarová a síťařská společnost  IP Fabric  získala v rámci takzvané series A částku ve výši 3,5 milionu eur, tedy zhruba 95 milionů korun. S předchozí seed investicí o velikosti 1,3 milionu eur  z roku 2017 si tak doposud přišla na 4,8 milionu eur. Startupu se podle informací Lupy sešlo více nabídek, takže si při aktuálním kole mohl vybírat. I díky tomu spoluzakladatelé stále drží podílovou většinu. K německým investorům se přidalo rovněž  Credo Ventures , které investovalo už v úvodním seed kole, a také tuzemský fond  Presto Ventures . Ten byl dříve známý jako Bohemia Venture Capital, vede ho Přemysl Rubeš a investuje skrze něj Tomáš Krsek, jeden z prodejců Škody Transportation do rukou PPF. K investici do IP Fabric se v rámci série A připojil také Filip Doušek. Jde o jednoho ze zakladatelů startupu  Stories, který v roce 2018 koupil americký Workday  a na základě toho v Praze postavil vývojové centrum. Společnosti IP Fabric jsme se na Lupě několikrát věnovali. Firmu založili Pavel Bykov, Roman Aprias a Miroslav Hybl. Ti měli zkušenosti se stavěním a správou rozsáhlých počítačových sítí. Vyvinuli softwarový nástroj, který dokáže poskytovat detailní informace o sítích, které fungují v rámci celého světa. „Zkoumáme každý element síťového stavu. Díky našemu síťovému modelu víme o úplně všech návaznostech v síťové infrastruktuře,“ popsal už dříve Pavel Bykov v rozhovoru pro Lupu ( text  a  video ). V IP Fabric věří vizi plně autonomních sítí. Prvním krokem k docílení tohoto stavu má být síťová infrastruktura ve formě databáze, a to v kombinaci s plnohodnotným síťovým modelem. „Databáze se chová jako síť, a navíc je do ní hloubkový vhled,“ popisuje Bykov. Jak jsme na Lupě už dříve psali,  IP Fabricu už se podařilo získat velké zákazníky jako Airbus . Příjmy od něj od té doby vyrostly a přidala se další velká jména. Jde například o americkou baseballovou soutěž Major League Baseball (MLB), která český produkt používá v rámci celé světové sítě, přičemž využívá i multicast. Mezi přírůstky lze vidět i SAP, DHL nebo Globus. „Teď jsme podepsali jednu ze tří největších videostreamingových služeb na planetě, bohužel ale nemůžeme sdělovat jméno,“ navazuje Bykov. „Nasadil nás i pražský dopravní podnik. Ten má připojenou každou zastávku a má velmi složitou síť.“

Firma primárně cílí na korporace, a to v mezinárodním pojetí tohoto slova. Často jde tedy o podniky s minimálně pěti tisíci zaměstnanci. IP Fabricu se v loňském roce podařilo obchodně vyrůst o 350 procent (MRR). Letos je to prozatím 200 procent, ale údajně se ještě do konce roku počítá s „výrazným nárůstem“. „Začaly se nám vyplácet investice do obchodu,“ popisuje Bykov pro Lupu. „V Česku je to většinou tak, že startupy mají výborné technologie, ale neumí dělat obchod a marketing. Je to naprostý protipól vůči Spojeným státům. Například prvního člověka do marketingu jsme najali teprve nedávno, teď mu končí zkušební doba. To je chyba, kterou bych znovu neopakoval,“ popisuje své zkušenosti. Podobně ostatně  v rozhovoru mluvil David Čaněk z Memsource , kde v červenci majoritní podíl získala Carlyle Group. Peníze z aktuální investice tedy půjdou zhruba půl na půl na výzkum, vývoj a podporu zákazníkům a zároveň na obchod a marketing. Firma má v obou částech otevřeny  nové pozice . „Jsme cash flow pozitivní, ale bez investice jsme si nebyli sebejistí v tom, abychom dělali dlouhodobější investice. Na ně nyní budeme mít prostředky.“
IP Fabric má totiž mimo jiné několik konkurentů. Americký  Forward Networks  už na investicích pobral přes 62 milionů dolarů a podle Bykova „má horší obchodní výsledky než my“. Na trhu operují i  NetBrain Technologies . „Na jednom veletrhu za mnou na stánek přišel šéf NetBrainu a řekl mi, že jsme sice vyhráli bitvu v DHL, ale válka ještě neskončila,“ vzpomíná Bykov. Mezi konkurenty patří i  Apstra . IP Fabricu nyní měsíčně přibývají minimálně dva enterprise zákazníci, přičemž firma si v rámci licence účtuje roční poplatek 50 eur na jeden síťový prvek (s množstevními slevami). Klient, kteří se nevrátí či odpadne (takzvaný churn), je doposud jeden. V jednání je dále několik zajímavých jmen, třeba Boeing. „Obecně doufáme, že nám situace kolem covidu-19 pomůže v dalším prodeji zejména ve Spojených státech. Lidé nyní pracují více na dálku, což klade nároky na sítě a dobrý přehled o nich,“ plánuje Bykov, který se chce v budoucnu do USA přesunout a na východním pobřeží založil pobočku a nabrat lidi. „I tak se ale stále často u amerických i západoevropských firem setkáváme s narážkami, že jsme z nějaké východní Evropy. Musíme tedy vystupovat jako americká entita (IP Fabric, Inc. se sídlem v Delaware ovládá českou firmu – poznámka redakce) s vývojem v Praze.“

Debata i na téma sledování sítí, Číny a stále větším vlivu komoditního síťového hardwaru. „Lidé přestali mít kontrolu nad svojí síťovou infrastrukturou. Čím více připojených zařízení je, tím více dynamicky se síť chová a je z ní živá bytost,“ popisuje ve videorozhovoru Lupy spoluzakladatel české společnosti IP Fabric Pavel Bykov motivy, proč s kolegy firmu založil. IP Fabric získala investici 1,3 milionu eur od fondu Credo Ventures a nyní se se svým nástrojem pro monitoring rozsáhlých sítí snaží dostat za velkými hráči. „Zkoumáme každý element síťového stavu. Díky našemu síťovému modelu, který je napsaný v graphové matematice, víme o úplně všech návaznostech v síťové infrastruktuře,“ navazuje Bykov. IP Fabric byl prozatím testován na 50 tisících aktivních síťových prvcích. „To by odpovídalo těm největším korporacím na světě, když pominu Google, Amazon a podobně.“ Bykov v rozhovoru mluví také o změnách v síťovém byznysu. Například o tom, jak tyto změny nabořily způsob fungování Cisca, které se nyní prý hledá. „Na Ciscu jsem lpěl, protože jakmile se člověk naučí Cisco svět, naprosto dokonale chápe sítě v Cisco světě. Ale jakmile vyrazí někam jinam, koncept se hodně převrátí,“ uvádí Bykov. „Rozhodně to tak cítím,“ dodává dále k otázce, zda se sítě komoditizují podobně jako servery. „Opravdovou inovaci v síťovém světě vidím v otevřeném a komoditizovaném hardwaru.“
Rozhovor rovněž řeší téma čínských síťových hráčů typu Huawei. „Rozhodně vidíme, že se tady objevují a že se objevují často. Ovšem to procento stále není nějaké extra zásadní. Jsou takové třetí, čtvrté místo. Jsou významný hráč.“
Tématem jsou i obavy ze špehování. „Vendoři vždy měli speciální nástroje, kterými lze vyhovět policii, aniž by zákazník, u kterého ten hardware je, o tom věděl. Například série softwaru od Cisca, když to bylo ještě více veřejné a neskrývalo se to jako teď, nazvaná LI (Lawful Interception), umožňovala státním agenturám se vzdáleně připojovat k zařízením a na určitém provozu odposlouchávat provoz, aniž by o tom věděl jakýkoliv účastník včetně internetového poskytovatele. Taková zadní vrátka tam vždy byla zabudovaná,“ přibližuje Bykov.
