Medela to launch new Invia Integrated Dressing for wounds

Aug 16, 2023

The new dressing has been designed to work with Medela NPWT Liberty and Motion pumps. The new sterile dressing is suitable for all wound types, including closed surgical incisions. Credit: Medela / GlobeNewswire. Medela has announced plans to expand its negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) portfolio with the introduction of the new Invia Integrated Dressing indicated for all types of wounds. The new sterile dressing is intended for all wound types, including closed surgical incisions. It is suitable for use at home or in a hospital setting for up to seven days. Recommended Reports It comes with a three-layer fluid handling pad that has a skin-friendly silicone adhesive border. The new dressing also features a Quick-connector, which is present in all of the company’s NPWT products for pump-to-dressing connections. It has been designed to work with the Liberty and Motion Medela NPWT pumps. These pumps help maintain even pressure while drawing away fluids and keeping them away from the wound site to support healing. Medela CEO Annette Brüls said: “Backed by more than six decades of expertise in medical vacuum technology, this long-awaited product will be available in September as an extension of our full-system solution to support wound healing. “When we set out to support this category, we applied our research-based suction technology to our negative pressure wound therapy solutions and we’ve found that this provides an optimal environment for confident and effective wound healing.” Medela’s NPWT solutions include Intelligent Pressure Control, which ensures the application of a steady and uniform pressure directly to the wound site. Furthermore, the Medela system consists of Dynamic Exudate Removal technology, which utilises double-lumen tubing for preventing blockages and removing exudates. The technology also aids in adjusting to changing fluid levels, drawing fluid from the wound into a canister and supporting the body’s natural healing and tissue regeneration processes.
