Acquisition strengthens RTI’s position as leading implementer of international development projects around the world January 09, 2017 RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC— RTI International has closed on its acquisition of International Resources Group (IRG), a leading provider of critical solutions to the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in developing nations around the world. IRG was formerly the wholly owned subsidiary of Engility Holdings, Inc., a leading provider of mission-critical and highly technical services to the U.S. government. This acquisition combines RTI’s and IRG’s respective areas of expertise and enhances RTI’s international development work and footprint in food security and agriculture, energy, water, natural resources management, climate resilience, and conflict, allowing RTI to bring an expanded set of services to clients in these areas. IRG also brings new capabilities to RTI in USAID management and technical training and disaster preparedness. “Combining the expertise and capabilities of IRG with those of RTI enables us to better address critical challenges facing our clients and the international development community,” said Wayne Holden, PhD, president and CEO of RTI International. “We are extremely excited to welcome the IRG staff into the RTI family.” The acquisition will better position RTI to conduct integrated development programming. The acquisition will also expand RTI’s presence in geographies in which the organization has little or no current footprint, such as Rwanda and Ukraine, and allow the organization to enhance its established presence in other countries such as Guatemala, the Philippines, Senegal, Tanzania and Thailand. “RTI has a strong reputation for outstanding performance and technical services in the international development market,” said Kirk Dye, Engility senior vice president. “We look forward to supporting RTI to ensure a smooth transition for employees and the USAID clients.” IRG will operate as an independent subsidiary of RTI for a period of time in order to facilitate an orderly transition that allows both companies to continue to deliver excellent programs to their clients.
