Mercia Fund announces investment in emerging UK tech start-ups Fund has backed £250,000 in natural search specialist Intelligent Positioning and £50,000 in life sciences business CDL by Henry Williams Updated: May 14, 2015 Published: May 14, 2015 Mercia has backed life sciences start-up CDL Investor in UK technology start-ups, Mercia Fund Management (MFM), has announced a £250,000 capital injection in new portfolio company Intelligent Positioning, as well as an additional £50,000 investment into CYP Design Ltd (CDL). Intelligent Positioning, a real-time natural search technology developer, helps clients optimise their web presence by controlling and improving their Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and online strategy. The company will use the finance to promote its core product, Pi Diametrics – a multilingual SEO platform – and cement its position as the market leader in natural search applications for intelligence, performance and optimisation. Intelligent Positioning claims that 85% of its customers see a 40% increase in traffic within the first year of using its system, and has secured contracts with global brands including Marks & Spencer, Virgin Active, AXA and L’Oreal. Life sciences firm CDL develops technology to make pre-clinical drug safety tests cheaper, more efficient and more convenient. With such trials costing up to £100m, an improvement of just 10% in predicting failures could save the industry an estimated £64m in development costs for every drug.
