:Toymaker Hasbro Inc on Tuesday said longtime Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Brian Goldner died, two days after he went on medical leave. In a statement last year, Goldner said he had been under continued medical treatment following his cancer diagnosis in 2014. Board member and former CEO of marketing firm InnerWorkings Inc, Rich Stoddart, has replaced Goldner on an interim basis. Goldner, 58, joined Hasbro in 2000 and was appointed CEO in 2008, the company said. "He expanded the company beyond toys and games into television, movies, digital gaming and beyond," Hasbro said. Goldner also served on the board of directors of ViacomCBS Inc.

Goldner is taking a medical leave of absence from his role as CEO, effective immediately. Today's announcement follows Mr. Goldner's disclosure in August 2020 that he was undergoing continued medical care following treatment for cancer in 2014. Rich Stoddart, most recently the Lead Independent Director of Hasbro's Board of Directors, has been appointed as Interim CEO, effective immediately. Mr. Stoddart brings extensive leadership experience and expertise in global brand-building, advertising and marketing, and supply chain management through his CEO roles at InnerWorkings, Inc., the largest global marketing execution company, and Leo Burnett Worldwide. He has served on Hasbro's Board of Directors since 2014. Together with Hasbro's seasoned executive leadership, he will continue to execute the Company's Brand Blueprint strategy. Massey joins the Cheshire-based marketing services company, with more than 25 years’ experience having previously been VP International Business Development at InnerWorkings, during his career, he's also held the Chief Sales and Marketing Officer role at HH Global, and Group Business Development Director at Communisis. “I’m really excited to be joining APS, it’s a dynamic business that has successfully expanded into Europe and the US as well as diversifying into agency, digital and retail services, to complement its print, data and fulfilment offerings,” he said. “The solid foundations that have been set over recent years give us a great platform for expansion and I’m really looking forward to being part of this future success.”
