Derek Keller

Derek joined Highway 12 Ventures as an Associate in 2010, after having interned with the fund in the summer of 2008 and 2009. Prior to joining the firm, Derek spent two years as a Senior Associate at the University Venture Fund (UVF) based in Salt Lake City, Utah. With over $18M under management, UVF is the largest student-run private equity fund in the nation, and has invested in companies ranging from pre-revenue up through companies with $100M+ in annual revenues (including Omniture which was recently acquired by Adobe). As a Senior Associate, Derek led and co-led various deals in multiple segments including: wireless and mobile technologies, web, software, social media, consumer products and financial services. Derek also spent part of 2009 in San Francisco working with the middle market private equity fund Huntsman Gay on their latest initiative of raising a social impact fund based out of India. When he’s not recuperating from his latest extreme downhill mountain biking or snowboarding excursion, Derek enjoys capturing outdoor landscapes on his camera and composing his own piano music. Derek graduated with a BS in Finance from Brigham Young University.
