The IMTC EMEA 2019 London Conference Brings Together All Sectors Within the International Payments Industry With David Cullinan From July 1-3, the International Money Transfers and Payments Conference (IMTC) will be hosting an event in Victoria, London at Etc. Venues to discuss the future of global money transfers in the age of blockchain technology. For three days, people within the blockchain, finance, economics, and FinTech sectors will unite to share their ideas and opinions on how to improve remittance services. Hugo Cuevas-Mohr, the director of IMTC, explained the current significance of the international transfer industry by noting that “Even if only 10-15% of cash-based migrants are convinced to move to digital outbound money transfer methods, these digital-first fintechs are growing by acquiring clients from banks by providing transparency and easy-to-use apps”. Leon Isaacs, co-chair at the conference, has additionally stated that “the global money transfer/remittance industry is in a state of flux. The traditional or historical cash-to-digital-to-cash based operators are at a crossroads”. It is because of this that the event is of such necessity. Who will be attending? The conference will comprise of 15+ expert speakers and panelists, each with knowledge and experience in related fields. Of particular note is Andrea Nitsche, Chair of the Global Cash Alliance Committee at the International Currency Association, Hugo Cuevas-Mohr, President and CEO of Mohr World Consulting and director of IMTC, and Luis Beneytez, the CEO and Founder of TKS. These, and many others attending are the leading voices in the world of remittance and international finance. They operate at the cutting-edge of the industry and are continually seeking out new solutions. All panel discussions will be chaired by Leon Isaacs, an expert in remittance with a history of working with MoneyGram, Coinstar, and Thomas Cook, and Nina Hülsken, founder and managing director of the payment advisory service Cosmo Element. Over three days, attendees will hear from numerous voices in the industry as well as have ample time to network with others who closely follow the international financial markets. On Monday 1st July, there will be two separate forums available, with registration to both being open to all attendees. People can choose to either visit the Cross-Border Payments Regulation and Compliance Forum or The Blockchain Series Forum. The Cross Border Payments Regulation and Compliance Forum will feature panel discussions on the evolution of banking, solutions to jurisdiction-based problems, data privacy, and several more. The Blockchain Series Forum will feature panel discussions about innovation within FinTech, the “war on cash,” and a Q&A session with representatives from Ripple, IBM Blockchain, Bitspark, and Remitone. Both forums will have a round table debate and an open discussion at the end, providing all attendees the opportunity to voice their opinions and concerns. On July 2, conference attendees will find panel topics on financial trends, open banking, and the importance of digitization with regards to economics. During the event, the networking area will be open, meaning that even if the panels are not of interest to some, they will come across like-minded individuals who will all be interested in engaging in healthy debate outside. The day will finish with a cocktail happy hour and night event. July 3 will focus on exploring cross-border ecosystems, G-20 policies and how the IPO industry is evolving.
