A' Medical Product Design Awards 2016 - Global Call for Entries IMAGE Information Systems has been awarded a prestigious iF Design Award 2016 for MED-TAB™, the world’s first portable, DICOM calibrated radiological work-station. The iF Design Award has been recognized throughout the world for more than 60 years as the symbol defining outstanding achievements in design. In January 2016, a 58 member jury composed of international experts convened to determine the recipients of the iF DESIGN AWARD 2016 across categories including product design, packaging, concept and communication for key industries. MED-TAB was chosen as a winner in the medicine/ healthcare industry category, among more than 5,000 entries from 53 countries. Developed over a period of more than three years, MED-TAB is the world’s first portable radiological work-station. It incorporates a high-resolution LCD display and computer for medical image analysis. Used in conjunction with native or web-based advanced visualization software, MED-TAB enables imaging professionals for the first time to view, analyze and send radiological images anytime and from virtually anywhere – making the device one of the most innovative products to emerge in the world of healthcare IT for many years. Dr. Arpad Bischof, radiologist and co-developer of MED-TAB, explains that it was conceived to provide opportunities for imaging professionals to work new, more comfortable and convenient ways as well as get closer to patients to provide better and faster work. “Now doctors can see the patient ’s images in sufficient quality and enjoy increased mobility. Image professionals now have the freedom to work beyond the reading room. They now have instant access to images in DICOM, leading to more efficient use of time and improved quality of care and safety standards for patients,” says Bischof. “This provides key benefits to imaging professionals in well-developed areas as well as hospitals and clinics in areas where radiological resources are currently limited.” MED-TAB is a global product created by IMAGE Information Systems , an industry leader in Picture Archiving & Communications Systems (PACS).
