He was a taxi driver for many years, a company driver, although he is now retired. But he lives here in Pest, is easily accessible, and has such a “storyteller’s style” that you just have to memorize his words… Cs. was right. He regularly sent chocolates to my children. There are also documents that are much older than this “Why did you come from the taxi?” “They downsized… I became a worker.” I made folk art dolls back home. Luckily for me, not for long. A former taxi driver friend of mine, who became a car presenter for a company, hired me as a driver. I became the company’s material buyer with a Vauxhall 14. It was a terribly wrecked car. For example, if I wanted to turn onto Üllői út, I had to start turning the steering wheel to the left at Rákóczi út. Then I switched to a Tatraplan, and it was so rough that if it rained in Vienna, it was already sliding all over the place in Pest. Later I bought a Moskvich for myself. I told the diri, give me this. Good, but with this you have to undertake a trip to the countryside – said the condition. “Did you take it?” – Of course… That’s when I really got to know the country, it’s a different matter that instead of passengers, we had to transport industrial explosives, lighters and other things. I drove it for three years… And fixed it… V-belt change? AC pump replacement? Dynamo replacement? Naturally, I had to do all this. In the end, I got used to working in the garage quite well. I also put this to good use with my Trabim. On the road next to his 11-year-old Trabant – Your other jobs? – I was also a driver at the Hungarian Journalists’ Association for two years, then I joined Lapkiadó Vállalat, but I could only drive a Lada for three months, when they discovered that I also knew something about administration. I was added to the “highlighted” sa company’s inventory group. But really – I can say now – this work area was not my world. I retired in 1981 at the age of fifty-five. – They informed me that he bought this farmhouse last year.
