IkanPaos Kolektif has raised a seed funding from angel investment firm Qeerad , for TAPAUtv, an independent online TV station that aims to captures and represent Malaysia’s youth and independent scene. The funding amount was undisclosed. The team said in a statement that the idea for TAPAUtv had been validated by the success of its Malaysian-concept youth festival TAPAUfest . In June last year, the TAPAUfest became the largest crowdfunded project in Southeast Asia, having raised MYR87,705 via crowdfunding. “The success of TAPAUfest not only set a record for the biggest crowd funded project in Southeast Asia, but it also proved that our independent scene is alive, filled with amazing young creative talents, and the crowd wants more of it,” IkanPaos said. “TAPAUtv was born out of the realisation that the traditional mainstream media has failed to capture the essence and taste of the current youth generation; while the advancement of technology through the rise of new media has also triggered a change in how the audience consumes content,” the statement said. It added: TAPAUtv provides the solution by being the preferred media platform that champions the independent youth movement. IkanPaos also said that with the support from Qeerad, TAPAUtv is now producing new content everyday from Monday to Friday, and is in beta testing stage of their new and improved website, www.TAPAU.tv . The team explained that “The TAPAU Show”, which is up every Monday, keeps the audience updated with five things that are going on in the scene every week, while ‘PULUN’ is an upcoming series focusing on young entrepreneurs and their story of hustle and struggle to make it to the top.
