Hughes Director James Clevenger on LEO Satellite Connectivity, Hybrid Networks by James Clevenger/LinkedIn James Clevenger, Director, Government Sales, Hughes Network Systems James Clevenger , director of government sales at Hughes Network Systems , said government agencies transitioning to the General Services Administration’s Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions contract should consider deploying low Earth orbit satellite connectivity to expand their broadband capacity and transport options. In an opinion piece published Friday on C4ISRNET, Clevenger wrote that LEO satellites have the capability to deliver low latency connectivity in remote locations, supporting videoconferencing and other latency-intensive applications. He noted that hybrid networks could provide agencies with built-in redundancy and enable them to minimize congestion by optimizing bandwidth utilization. According to Clevenger, hybrid networks that come with LEO services could support multistate emergency networks, critical infrastructure monitoring and national and international connectivity. Clevenger also cited the benefits of working with a managed services provider to agencies as they continue to transition to the EIS vehicle and advance network modernization efforts. Sign Up Now!
