Last days to contribute to HoofStep's Kickstarter March 29, 2019 HoofStep is a Helsingborg-based startup, and its first product, a sensor-connected monitor for horse surveillance and behavior analysis, has been launched via Kickstarter last month. It is estimated that the product will be delivered in May or August. “We chose Kickstarter because it will be easier to get quick spread and cashflow, considering that our brand is quite unknown,” says Karl Forssman, one of the founder of Hoofstep. The startup’s invention is a specially designed wearable device with sensors placed on the horse’s forehead. With the help of these monitors, movements and eating habits of a horse are registered. The information is sent with radio signals to a connected base unit where the owner can access the information via an app in his or her phone. The purpose is to quickly get indications of diseases or other types of discomfort for the horse. It can also be used to get information on how much physical exercise the horse needs. The system is now being tested by some 30 customers, consisting of professional riders, horse farm owners and hobbyists.
