Hobsons launched in December 1971, and was bought out from founder Bill Hobson - a former chair of the Grimsby Fish Merchants’ Association - by Withernsea-based GWS Seafoods with partner Croft Holdings in 2020. The new team brought the crustacean knowledge to the traditional white fish business on the North Quay. To sign up, find out more and see all of our newsletters, follow the link here Reflecting on the highs of the Seventies when the docks were bustling with activity to the lows as Grimsby saw a decline in its once thriving fishing industry, she told how Hobsons has “held its position strong” with the takeover bringing 20 years of shellfish processing knowledge and “vast exportation sales expertise”. Further ambitious plans are being worked up to secure its position in the sector. Samantha added: “I’d like to thank all our customers and colleagues who have supported Hobsons over the years. 50 years is a huge milestone for the company, and we are delighted to be celebrating this month. “The next few years are set to be both exciting and innovative for the business, driving the shellfish processing services Hobsons has to offer, whilst helping the local community by creating more full-time permanent jobs here in Grimsby. “Here’s to another 50 years of success!” Read More
