Guoxiaomei, a China-based cashier-free convenience store operator, has raised $50 million funding in its Series C round led by Vertex Ventures . The round also saw participation from IDG Capital , BlueRun Ventures, Dongfang Hongdao Capital and Desun Investment, according to a China Money Network report. In August, the company received a Series A funding led by IDG. This year, other cashier-free convenience stores players like Bianlifeng, Bingobox, F5 Store and Xiaomai have raised funding. Founded in June, Guoxiaomei counts investors like FreesFund, Meng Xing, founder of Chinese restaurant Diaoyeniunan, and Luo Xi, founder of smart hardware incubator Redianchang as its shareholders. China’s high-tech company Tunicorn Technology has received $37.8 million in Series A round from a couple of investors. The investors include Cowin Capital and Tianjin Hongwei Shangcheng Management Consulting Co Ltd, The China Money Network reported. Tunicorn Techology focuses on artificial intelligence and computer vision. Its core technologies cover images/video search, vision recognition, face recognition, motion tracking, machine vision, etc. Cowin Capital Group was established 2000 as China’s first professional private placement Equity investment company. The investment firm Cowin Capital has invested in more than 280 companies, of which 50 more became public companies, and 130 more successfully exit, according to its website. Alibaba Group Holding Ltd’s Ant Financial has led a $15 million in education management application developer SchoolPal Online, according to an article in The China Money Network. Hangzhou-based education management application developer SchoolPal Online provides various smart and information-based solutions for private schools and education training institutions. Ant Financial is also looking to strengthen its foothold in south-east Asia, India and markets such as New Zealand and Australia. Precision medicine startup, 3DMed, received USD 120 million for Series E on November 23 for the R&D of new precision medicine solutions. 3DMed is a precision medicine startup that focuses on providing cancer patients with advancing precision medicine solutions. “3D” refers to Diagnostics, Data, and Drug development, which means the combined strength of diagnostics, big data, and drug development in precision cancer care. 3DMed’s medicine solutions, which include sequencing, a PDC bank for liver cancer, and an Oncology Data Service Platform (OncoDSP), can guide clinicians to choose the right treatment for cancer patients, and help our scientists to develop effective medicines to treat cancer. Founded in 2010 in Shanghai, the company has headquarters and an R&D center in Shanghai, global clinical operations in Beijing, clinical diagnostic laboratories in Shanghai and Shenyang, and operations offices in Chengdu, Guangzhou, and Maryland. So far it has 370 employees and its services cover more than 200 hospitals in China, serving a total of over 10,000 patients. Unmanned convenience store, Guoxiaomei, received USD 45 million for Series C on November 23 for market expansions. Guoxiaomei is an unmanned convenience store that places cashier-free smart vending machines, mini convenience stores, as well as snack bars in corporate offices. Unlike other unmanned convenience stores that place convenience stores and smart vending machines in residential areas, Guoxiaomei mainly puts snack shelves that support cash-free payment via smartphones inside corporate offices. Its machines offer items like chips, milk, eggs, dried fruits, cookies, and instant noodles. Founded in 2017 in Chengdu, Guoxiaomei has so far placed hundreds of snack shelves in the Chengdu offices of Tencent, Alibaba, China Telecom and Focus Media. It is building a new headquarter base, which integrates artificial intelligence, smart devices, intelligent logistics, and so on. This Series C financing round was from an undisclosed group of investors. Previously, the company grabbed financing funding from IDG , FreesFund , Meng Xing, the founder of Chinese restaurant Diaoyeniunan, and Luo Xi, the founder of smart hardware incubator, Redianchang . Precision medicine startup 3DMed secures USD 120M for the R&D of new medicine solutions, & more

(Yicai Global) Sept. 28 -- Self-service smart shelf operator Chengdu Guoxiaomei Network Technology Co. is merging with smart-shelf provider Fanqiebianli, run by Shanghai Xiaojia Network Technology Co., in order to accelerate the development of new retail in offices. Guoxiaomei announced the plans on Sept. 28. After the merger, the original business direction of each firm will generally remain the same, but they will develop self-service convenience shelves and smart-retail shelves in offices as a high priority, domestic media outlet i21st reported. The new company will use the Guoxiaomei brand going forward. Guoxiaomei’s chief executive, Yan Limin, will also serve as CEO of the new firm. Guoxiaomei focuses on white-collar consumption in office buildings in central business districts, while Fanqiebianli’s smart freezing technology can expand the scope of stock keeping units in offices. Fanqiebianli completed A+ financing worth tens of millions of yuan last week, while Guoxiaomei earlyed bagged USD10 million in it’s a-round. Market insiders believe Fanqiebianli’s biggest strength lies in offline development, while Guoxiaomei does better in online channels, such as e-commerce. ×
