Published On December 22, 2009 | GROHNO Guss GmbH, a Düren, Germany-based manufacturer and developer of prototypes, components, small lots and test series out of metal and synthetic material, secured un undisclosed sum as a part of its second round of equity financing. The round was led by Leonardo Venture GmbH & Co. KGaA, with participation from KfW and a business angel, the entrepreneur Matthias Popp, who also became the new CEO on November 1st, 2009. Founded in 2006, GROHNO Guss has developed a precision casting process, which enables microstructures to be cast in metal surfaces. These microstructures are very important for components in aircraft engines, gas turbines and pumps. In addition to them, the company is already trying to develop new application areas such as aerospace, energy and cleantech or medicine and food technology. FinSMEs
