July 25, 2022 6:58 AM Share this article Italian dairy group Granarolo has acquired a 60% stake in the share capital of Agro Pontino-based dairy business, Industria Latticini G.Cuomo S.r.l. Latticini G.Cuomo dates back more than 110 years and produces mozzarella, ricotta and other cheese variants from cow milk. It specialises in the production of fiordilatte, a traditional mozzarella cheese with the typical pear shape and the hallmark of the Cuomo brand. Granarolo S.p.A. president, Gianpiero Calzolari, commented, “We have found in the Cuomo family a visionary interlocutor, and we have asked them to stay with the company to work together on the development of new products and new markets that are able to enhance the history and the art of cheese-making of this brand and Granarolo. “For some time now, Granarolo has been focusing its attention on the cheese market, which best enhances the milk of our territories and is a standard-bearer of our best Made in Italy abroad.” Latticini G.Cuomo Latticini G.Cuomo, with an average pre-COVID turnover of €12 million, sells its products in national large-scale retail chains. It processes about 15,000 tonnes of milk annually and operates a modern, 33,000 square-metre production plant with 34 employees. The Cuomo family stated, “Cuomo is proud to become part of the Granarolo Group, which has immediately proven to be an interlocutor capable of enhancing our reality, both in Italy and allowing our brand to position itself in foreign markets.
