Daily Briefing: ST Telemedia leads $54.41m funding round in US-based analytics firm; HDB to set up 6,000 digital screens in housing estates

Oct 31, 2019

And employment-seeking platform GrabJobs expands to Indonesia. From DealStreetAsia: Temasek-backed investor ST Telemedia had led a $54.41m ($40m) funding round in Datameer, a San Francisco-based big data analytics and visualisation company that seeks to build out its global sales and engineering capabilities. In a statement, Datameer said its existing investor ST Telemedia was joined by shareholders Redpoint Ventures, Kleiner Perkins, Nextworld Capital, Citi Ventures, and Top Tier Capital Partners in the funding round. The company said it will use the fresh funding to expand its capabilities in the enterprise data preparation and exploration market and to finance the market introduction of its Neebo solution. Neebo is a cloud-native self-service solution that allows teams of analytics and data scientists to create, discover, use and share trusted assets in hybrid landscapes, Datameer said. Datameer CEO Christian Rodatus said Neebo virtualises the complex enterprise systems landscapes without moving data and other assets. From PropertyGuru: The Housing and Development Board (HDB) launched a tender for the installation, operation and management of around 6,000 Digital Display Panels (DDPs), the board announced. HDB will pilot the roll-out of DDPs in housing estates from next year as part of the Smart Nation drive. Currently, several town councils (TCs) have already installed DDPs at various common areas, including lifts and lift lobbies. HDB noted that the panels will be installed at lift lobbies on the ground floor and inside some residential lifts, and will feature a rolling display of news and information from community organisers, government agencies and advertisers. The content would range from local notices on estate happenings to nationwide updates on public health advisories and emergencies.
