Korean videoconferencing app Gooroomee creating global buzz for its contactless education & business services

The COVID-19 pandemic, which forced remote work and education, increased the demand for non-face-to-face communication. Global tech companies such as Google’s Hangout, Microsoft’s Skype, Tencent Meeting, and Zoom video conferencing got many takers. Korean startup Gooroomee that specializes in videoconferencing, gained traction for its focus on education and business. The world’s first online reading room & OpenAPI service for businesses Gooroomee has developed web-based real-time communication technology that can connect people through the internet by video conferencing/education/interview and live events. The startup’s Gooroomee Camstudy is the first online study room in the world. It is a new trendy service in learning and education fields used by over 30,000 people every day for over 8 hours. The education app allows up to 16 people to study together online and systematically manage studies through various functions such as ‘stopwatch’ and ‘study records.’   Gooroomee Biz can be used in various areas such as meetings, education, live webinar, interview, etc. Gooroomee Biz can show up to 100 people on one screen in Full HD and communicate in one space with more than 1,000 participants. It provides real-time video communication, content sharing technology, MCU technology, and Korea’s best WebRTC technology. Also, it provides an openAPI source to companies that want to build their communication channels. By utilizing the OpenAPI of Gooroomee’s platform, real-time video communication services desired by companies and institutions can be provided within one week to 3 months. The Gooroomee Biz service has 15,000 customers Domestic users increase with security certification  Gooroomee, a 7-year-old startup, offers services for both B2B and B2C markets. The app has become popular domestically as an alternative to Zoom. It is being used in various fields especially among government organisations and education institutions, where more than 1000 people are involved in non-face-to-face conferences/meetings. In 2020, Gooroomee was utilised as a domestic alternative for an online event held by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. Gooroomee had received 2 billion won’ Pre-Series A’ investment from Innopolis Partners, PNP Investment and Winvest Venture Investment in August 2020. In April 2021, the startup acquired ‘Public Cloud Service Security Certification (CSAP)’ from the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Internet & Security Agency. Gooroomee obtained security certification in the ‘Software as a Service (SaaS)’ field with its video platform. Through this certification, Gooroomee will be able to provide image solution services to public institutions that deal with sensitive information.
