So on a sluggish Sunday, a jaunt in the Eatsmobile to North Shields wasn't the worst idea. The destination? A cosy boozer nestled away at the bottom of the Coast Road, little more than a stone's throw from Tynemouth , and don't let the somewhat odd name put you off. Spread Eagle pub and dining in North Shields The grub is good and they were even selling what I assume was their own beer - the Spread Eagle Bomber - when we visited. Parking up in the pub's car park, the first problem appeared to be where to sit. We hadn't booked and, well, it turns out we probably should have. It turns out space can be at a premium on a Sunday, as the Front Street venue is seemingly building up a bit of a reputation among foodies. But there's nothing too fancy on the menu, which - as you'd expect from a venue so close to the sea - has some fishy dishes on it.
