UKHotViews Google Cloud has appointed Tara Brady as its new President for EMEA. Brady is something of an industry veteran, and we first met him many years ago when he led Getronics in the UK. Since then, his professional moves include a long stint at Accenture and, most recently, a Corporate VP role (Global Sales and Strategic Partnerships) at Microsoft. Google Cloud is the home of Google Workspace and Google Cloud platform. Revenue in the business increased 28% to $7.5bn in Q1, slower than the 32% growth recorded in Q4 2022 (see AWS and Google Cloud growth slows ) and the 38% in Q3 2022 (see Google Cloud growth slows in Q3 ). Furthermore, it was notably lower than the 44% growth reported in Q1 in the prior year (see Google Cloud beats expectations in Q1 ). Google pointed to slower growth of consumption as customers optimised GCP costs in response to an uncertain macroeconomic backdrop. We’ve seen various people moves at Google Cloud recently, including the promotion of Adaire Fox-Martin to President of Google Cloud Go to Market. GCP has remained the third largest hyperscaler (behind AWS and Microsoft Azure) for many years. All three have seen their growth slow, but all three are now amongst the largest providers of tech services in the UK (see our forthcoming Supplier Rankings for more analysis). Attracting the right talent is essential as the firm continues to grow and evolve as a business. We wish Brady all the very best in his new role.
