0 Message : THE COMPETITION COUNCIL LAUNCHES "FUEL PRICES MONITOR" The Competition Council launches the "Fuel Prices Monitor", an on-line platform that allows the consumers to find out the prices charged by the main motor fuel distribution networks. "By accessing free of charge this price comparator, the consumers can find out which are the closest oil stations, geographic location and services they offer, as well as prices. Thus, they can choose based on the information on the existing geographical market offer in the area of interest. In this way, competition will be stimulated both by price and services offered by the companies involved in the motor fuel retail sale" said Bogdan Chiriţoiu, President of the Competition Council. The Fuel Prices Monitor is available both as a web app and as a mobile app (IOS and Android) downloadable from the App Store and Google Play and displays the prices for standard and premium fuels (gasoline and diesel) at OMV Petrom, Mol, Rompetrol, Lukoil, Socar and Gazprom across the country, offering multiple search, sorting and filtering facilities. The Price Monitor is being developed in Romania by Maguay, and searches and application consulting can only be done across the country. The platform is managed by the Competition Council and the data / information is loaded in the application at the national level by the partner companies. We recall that in November 2016, the Competition Council launched www.monitorulpreturilor.info, a pilot project accessible in Bucharest and Ilfov, which displayed the prices for 128 products (64 generic product categories, for each individual product two prices were available: the lowest and the best-selling).
