Your chance to win a family pass to upcoming animation Maya the Bee: The Golden Orb

Dec 9, 2020

Adventure: Coco Jack Gillies voices Maya the Bee (centre) in her latest adventure, The Golden Orb. Picture: Studiocanal The summer holidays are almost upon us, and that means we can finally return to the movies for some exciting new releases. Among them will be the latest adventure of a plucky bee, in Maya the Bee: The Golden Orb - and we've got a host of family passes to give away. The third instalment in the Maya the Bee film series, The Golden Orb is just the antidote to the trouble of 2020, star Coco Jack Gillies told Australia Community Media. When Maya, a headstrong little bee, and her best friend Willy rescue an ant princess they find themselves in the middle of an epic bug battle that will take them to strange new worlds and test their friendship to its limits. Coco said the new film was her favourite of all three Maya the Bee journeys. "It's been a rough year for everybody and I think that Maya and her friends will being happiness, bubbliness and light to anyone's mindset," she said. "Take your whole family to see this film - no matter how old you are, it will definitely boost your mood and serotonin levels. "The Golden Orb follows Maya and her friends as they travel across all the meadows to deliver this egg, this baby, to her home. They have to work together, they argue, they go through a lot of obstacles, but they make it out in the end and resolve a lot of issues. "It really relates to this hectic 2020, it's got a beautiful lesson of friendship, following your heart and seeking adventure." Coco said it was a joy to come back to voicing the character for the third time - although she had some new challenges this time around. "When I first started voicing Maya I wasn't changing my voice at all, because I was eight and my naturally bubbly, childish self," the 16-year-old said. "But coming into the second and now third films, I had to teach myself how to heighten my voice and maintain that toddler level of energy." The Golden Orb became a family venture for Coco, with her little sister Evie lending her vocal talents to the character of Smoosh, the ant princess. Coco said it was working alongside her sister was wonderful. She said she loved stepped back into the Maya mindset for The Golden Orb. "I love Maya's inquisitive self," Coco said. "She's so adventurous, she's full of wonder and curiosity. She loves her friendships and wants to help everyone around her. "She's always wanting to learn, and that's a really beautiful thing to play - it takes me back to my younger self." Maya the Bee: The Golden Orb is rated G and is in cinemas these school holidays, buzzing onto screens from January 7. *** Giveaway *** Australian Community Media has 30 in-season family passes to give away to Maya the Bee: The Golden Orb.
