Israeli Driver Monitor System To Be Placed In New European Trucks

Jan 8, 2024

Cipia's technology makes sure the driver remains awake and alert (Courtesy) Israeli automotive solutions company Cipia will see its Driver Sense driver monitoring system (DMS) placed in four new heavy truck models set to be manufactured in Europe. The DMS uses AI and computer vision to monitor drivers for distraction and drowsiness levels while they are behind the wheel, helping to create a safer driving experience. The trucks with the DMS integrated into their systems are set to go into production at the end of 2025. The truck-maker is an existing customer of Cipia, whose platform is in use by vehicle makers in Europe, China and the United States. The DMS monitors important factors including gaze vector, blink rate, and eye openness to monitor for dangerous situations and also includes the ability to monitor the driver accurately with a facemask present, proper seat belt usage detection as well as cigarette smoking detection. “Whenever an existing OEM [original equipment manufacturer] chooses Cipia again, it’s a sign we’re demonstrating real value to our customers. I’m proud that Cipia is deepening its partnerships in Europe, helping to create safer vehicles and safer roads in the coming years,” said Yehuda Holtzman, CEO of Cipia. “This award follows a series of design wins we announced throughout 2023 which more than doubled our total amount of design wins, positioning us for growth in the coming years as these models enter production.” Subscribe to NoCamels weekly newsletter and get our top stories
