About Expressway Technologies
Developer of software for indexing structured data and text to support ad hoc decision queries in a client/server environment. The product, Expressway, is a decision support UNIX-based query accelerator which indexes data in standard relational database systems and can increase the speed of resolving complex queries against large databases by a factor of 100. The product, intended for use with databases of 200 megabytes or more, can build indices ten times faster than standard relational database indexers using only one-fifth the amount of space normally required. The technology makes it possible to analyze massive amounts of transactional data in relational databases for decision support query resolution. Expressway resides transparently between user interface and resident SQL databases such as Sybase, Oracle, Informix, and Ingres, thereby enhancing the capabilities of the relational database management system. The company provides an application programming interface that developers can use to write their own interface to the software. Expressway can also be installed as an Open Server with no change in the user application interface. Licensing fees are based on server classification and the total amount of raw data indexed by the software. First commercial release is scheduled for late 1993.
