EverNu Technology is a Maple Glen, PA based company that has received a grant(s) from the Department of Energy's SBIR/STTR program. Catalytic oxidation of low cost and abundant alkanes for the production of many valuable chemicals can bring to the US enormous economic, energy and environmental benefits, but the commercialization of the catalytic alkane processes has been hindered by the overheating of and burning on the metal oxide catalysts. A thermally stable and heat-conductive nano-material will be designed and prepared as a catalyst support, and has shown to be effective in overcoming the over-heating problem of metal oxide catalysts and in speeding up the commercialization of alkane oxidation processes to valuable chemicals. Utilization of low cost and abundantly available alkane as feedstocks for the production of valuable chemicals via catalytic oxidation can bring to the U.S. enormous economic, energy and environmental benefits, but the commercialization of such catalytic processes has been hindered by the inherent limitations of the bulk metal oxide catalysts thus far developed. To address the problem by overcoming the inherent limitations of the metal oxides, this project will develop a new class of ceramic-based support material with balanced properties not matched by any existing catalyst supports, which are specifically tailored for metal oxide catalysts in alkane oxidations.
