Oct 29, 2018

| #VentureCanvas Mars Woo | DealStreetAsia – VC Thai startup Event Banana , an online marketplace for event venues, has raised Bt20 million ($607,000) in funding to further finance its goal of becoming a one-stop service platform for event service in the country. Founded in 2016, Event Banana enables venue owners to list their properties – hotels, restaurants, bars, meeting places – and for users to search, shortlist, and get quotes, according to Nattanich Thongkraisaen, the platform’s Co-Founder and CEO. 500TukTuks and Jaspal Group also participated in the pre-Series A round, Event Banana announced. Event Banana, which claimed to have more than 41,000 users per month and over 1,200 listed venues with 3,800 event spaces around the country on the platform, was selected as the most promising tech startup in Thailand in 2017 during the Seedstars World, the global seed-stage startup competition for emerging markets. According to the company, the pre-Series A funding will further fuel its plan to become a one-stop service platform, starting off with online catering service in partnership with Central Restaurant Group (CRG) to offer snack box and lunch box for meetings and seminars. According to a Techsauce report, total investment in startups in Thailand was worth around $105.5 million, the highest value since 2011. The highest investment was aCommerce’s Series B funding, which raised $65 million, followed by Pomelo Thailand at $19 million. For comparison, startups in the country raised $9.7 million in 2013, which jumped to $43 million in 2014 before slightly declining to $32 million in 2015.
