Emergent Entertainment partners Animoca Brands to advance development of blockchain game Resurgence

Apr 12, 2023

Emergent Entertainment partners Animoca Brands to advance development of blockchain game Resurgence April 12, 2023 United Kingdom-based metaverse and blockchain games studio Emergent Entertainment (Emergent) has partnered Hong Kong-based gaming firm Animoca Brands to to advance development of Resurgence, the upcoming survival MMORPG. Animoca Brands said in a statement that both parties have signed a strategic advisory agreement for the partnership. According to the statement, Animoca Brands will collaborate closely with Emergent on the development of Resurgence, providing support and advisory services across key areas including but not limited to the governance, tokenomics, business strategy, strategic partnership development and marketing of the survival-focused MMORPG. “Our team at Resurgence is thrilled to collaborate with Animoca Brands, a company that shares our passion for innovation and has demonstrated an exceptional understanding of Web3 technology as a leader in the space,” said Ian Hambleton, the Chief Executive Officer of Emergent Entertainment. “We believe their expertise and commitment to supporting projects will propel us towards unparalleled success in the gaming industry, “Together, we’re excited to redefine the future of gaming and deliver unforgettable experiences to players worldwide,” he added. Yat Siu, the co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands, said he is delighted to announce the partnership with Emergent Entertainment, whose team brings considerable expertise in developing AAA-grade games for Web3. “We’re looking forward to providing our assistance as Resurgence is brought to life,” he said. Resurgence is an AAA free-to-play post-apocalyptic open-world crafting survival game that will be powered by blockchain technology. Emergent recently announced that the game will be launched on the Immutable X platform, which provides advanced scaling capabilities and a carbon-neutral, zero gas fee environment while maintaining the robust security and decentralized qualities of Ethereum. Emergent continues to establish key partnerships and grow the team dedicated to the development of Resurgence, creating a best-in-class blockchain-enabled game that empowers players through ownership of the in-game environment. The game is set a thousand years after the fall of human civilization, with players taking on the role of humans who have awoken from a deep cryosleep. The game pushes boundaries by using emergent technologies and by developing a narrative that is deeply ingrained in current culture, inviting players to immerse themselves in an environment that is the result of an ecological disaster. Players are already able to experience the world of Resurgence through the ownership of the game’s Gen 0 Cryotag – a non-fungible token (NFT) that is an integral part of the Resurgence game and storyline – and by following the preluding alternate reality game (ARG). Gen 0 Cryotag holders have opportunities to actively earn in-game points known as Virtues, unlocking rewards such as airdrops and the upcoming Gen 1 and Gen 2 NFT drops. Emergent Entertainment is a next-generation gaming and entertainment company founded by games industry veterans and web3 visionaries. The firm aligns the interests of storytellers and their communities at the frontiers of technology.
